Embrace, engage and empower LGBT2SQ+ youth, allies and their families.
Youth Pride Durham 2019 took place on June 8 at Sinclair Secondary School, Whitby.
We had a great turn out and some fabulous entertainment, including T. Thomason as our headline performer.
Thomason is a singer-songwriter from Nova Scotia whose song “Hope” was recently released after he won on CTV’s ‘The Launch.’
We were also thrilled to welcome back Drag Queens Wilma Checklear, Jada Hudson and Sofonda who always put on a spectacular show.
The day also featured information booths and activities presented by several community agencies who support LBGT2SQ+ youth and their families.
Drag Queen Storytime
New for 2019, we partnered with local libraries to present Drag Queen Storytime at libraries in every municipality in Durham Region.
The events were a huge success, with over 750 people joining us at the eight events collectively. Parents, caregivers and kids – and library staff – had fantastic time reading stories and singing songs with the Drag Queens.
Thank you to all the local libraries who partnered with us to present this exciting and innovative program showcasing stories and songs that explore and celebrate diversity and inclusion.
